Wimbledon let players practice pre-tournament on the main courts of the famous tennis club. The officials released a video showing Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams, Andy Murray, Iga Swiatek, and more practicing on Center Court and No.1 Court.
“History is made before The Championships begin, with the first-ever pre-tournament practices taking place on Centre Court and No.1 Court,” Wimbledon captioned the video released on YouTube on June 25th. Wimbledon took this decision after many players have suffered injuries in the past years.
Serena's last year injury is just one example. Now, players should be able to get a feel of the grass on the courts and fully accommodate before entering the heat of the competition.
Rafael Nadal was the first one to make history
Although in Wimbledon's recently released video we can see many tennis players training on the most important Wimbledon courts, Roland Garros winner Rafael Nadal was the 1st one who trained on Center Court. He and his training partner, of course: Matteo Berrettini.
