Rafael Nadal qualified in the second round at the Australian Open 2023. The Spanish champion defeated the British Jack Draper 7-5 2-6 6-4 6-1 in three hours and 43 minutes of play. In the next round, Nadal in charge will challenge the American Mackenzie McDonald, who emerged victorious from the match against his compatriot Brandon Nakashima by 7-6 7-6 1-6 6-7 6-4.
In the first set, the two tennis players take their first rounds of service and thus arrive at 4-3. Then it is Nadal who, in the eighth game, has the first break point of the set, but his opponent is saved. The tie-break therefore seems to be getting closer and closer, but Nadal finds the point that is worth the first set (7-5).
Draper plays a second super set, which the Brit closes 6-2, thus bringing the match to a draw. In the third set, the Spaniard climbs up to 5-4 and immediately afterwards, at the second chance, wins the break and therefore the third set (6-4).
At this point Nadal seems unbeatable and, without major problems, closes the fourth set 6-1 which ends the match. A funny moment, sees Rara as the protagonist. The Spaniard, in his Spanish, said amused to the chair umpire: "The ballboy took my racquet!" And in fact what does Nadal do? He changes rackets!
