On Tuesday night on the Stadium 2 in Indian Wells the first edition of the Eisenhower Cup, a super tie-breaks tournament, took place. Six players competed in the event in bid to look for match rhythm ahead of the first calendar Masters 1000 tournament of the season. Players competed in best of ten points matches.
On the top half, Rafael Nadal defeated Taylor Fritz 10-8 and Stan Wawrinka beat Dominic Thiem 10-5. On the bottom half, Milos Raonic prevailed over Gael Monfils 10-7 in the first round and Marin Cilic defeated David Goffin 11-9.
In the semifinals Nadal lost to Wawrinka 13-11, while Marin Cilic lost to Raonic 10-3. In the championship clash where the match winner took a $150,000 prize money, Raonic defeated Wawrinka 10-6.
