Simona Halep reveals advice used to deal with negative things during tough times

In an interview to Top Court, Simona Halep shared the negative things she used to tell herself during the tough times of her career and how changing that toxic habit helped her be more at peace on the court. "My advice to everybody is not judging yourself because if you judge yourself you cannot perform at your maximum level.

I was saying to myself that I am not good enough, I can lose easy to this girl if I play like this (I thought I was playing bad), doesn't matter if I work hard, I will never get what I want, like the big titles. On court, I used to say that I am a stupid person because I missed that easy ball, so stuff like this.

They were heavy at that time. I think that every time in your life are heavy if you talk to yourself like this, so I changed that and I became more relaxed and more acceptable to myself," said Halep for Top Court.

Fernandez praised Halep for how she treated her

20-year-old Canadian tennis player Leylah Fernandez says Simona Halep was really friendly to her when they played doubles at the 2019 National Bank Open in Toronto.

Fernandez and Halep made a strong start to their first-round encounter, but Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Kveta Peschke came back from a set down to defeat them in three sets. Fernandez was competing in her first major competition on the main stage that year in Toronto.

"I like this one. I had the opportunity to play with Simona, She was extremely nice, she was so nice, made it very easy for me to get used to the court, to the competition, and the WTA," Fernandez said in a video for the WTA Tour.
