Daniil Medvedev is one of the funniest players on Tour with his unusual gamestyle. The Russian player gave another proof of it on Wednesday in the Stuttgart Mercedes Cup second round, when he was 5-1 up in the second set against the 2017 winner Lucas Pouille.
Medvedev hit four aces in a row to win the game in just 29 seconds. Medvedev thrilled the crowd, but he lost the match in three sets, 7-6(6) 4-6 6-2. Pouille will face the German Jan-Lennard Struff, who is having a very good season, on Friday in the quarter-finals.
At 23 years of age Medvedev has reached a career-high ranking at No. 13, after a brilliant year so far where he defeated Novak Djokovic in the Monte Carlo Masters.
