The US Open 2021 is the 141st edition of the American Slam, which it will be played on the Flushing Meadows hard-courts, in New York. The defending champions of the men's and women's singles are the Austrian Dominic Thiem, who has forfeited due to a wrist injury, and the Japanese Naomi Osaka.
It is the first time since the 1997 US Open that no player between Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Serena Williams and Venus Williams has featured in the main draw of the tournament. The tournament includes the singles (women's and men's) and the doubles (women's and men's) tournamwnts, and of course the mixed doubles.
There are also singles and doubles tournaments for girls and boys (players under 18), and singles and doubles tournaments in wheelchairs. The tournament sees a cut in the number of participants in the men's and women's doubles tournaments, returning, as in 2019, to 64 pairs.
The tournament is played on fifteen DecoTurf hard courts, including the three main courts: Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium and Grandstand. Here are the best shots and tricks in the history of the tournament.
