The men's tournament
The adventure of the Italian number one Jannik Sinner continues in the BNP Paribas Open, played on the Indian Wells hard-courts. Jannik beat defending champion Taylor Fritz and conquered the second semifinal of his career in a Masters 1000, his first in Indian Wells.
No Italian had gone so far in history in the Californian tournament and Jannik once again shows that he is in great shape. Sinner, with a possible final, would finally reach the Top-10. It takes 2 hours and 19 minutes of play for Jannik to get the better of the opponent, defeated with the result of 6-4 4-6 6-4.
A challenge that sees the Italian always, at least on points, ahead and the tennis player offers a great return performance. Jannik immediately starts strong, a break and 2 to 0 with a performance with the first ones that helps him to defend the advantage and closes the first set without worries.
The second set goes on quickly, Fritz makes fewer mistakes while Jannik gives way in the famous tenth game, thus leaving the set to the American. In the third set Sinner immediately goes ahead, but suffers the counterbreak after a few minutes.
Fritz suffers a lot on serve while Jannik advances without problems. In the ninth game, Jannik plays a great return game and gets the break which will then allow him to close 6-4. For him in the semifinals there will be the number 1 seed and the number 2 in the world Carlos Alcaraz.
The two have faced each other on several occasions, in the last one Jannik wasted match points in the Quarterfinals of the US Open 2022. Alcaraz wins in straight sets against the Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime, a tennis player who was ahead in the previous ones.
The Canadian is always down in the match, the Spaniard wins with a set lead break and closes the match with the result of 6-4;6-4. Thus officially defined the framework of the semifinals.
