The other matches

In the next round, Azarenka will face Elena Rybakina. After just one set, the WTA No.

4 reached the semifinals of the WTA event in Brisbane. The reason is Anastasia Potapova's withdrawal from the match, which thus left the path free for the Kazakh tennis player. On the other side of the draw, the Czech Linda Noskova bet Mirra Andreeva.

She kept the number 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka as the underdog, who defeated the Russian Darya Kasatkina in two sets. The possible challenge in the final between the Belarusian and Rybakina is gaining more and more traction. In the men's tournament, Australian Jordan Thompson achieved a real milestone, beating Rafael Nadal in three sets and over three hours of play.

The Australian played tennis that was as risky as it was effective and tried not to lose ground with shots beyond the baseline. Thompson completed the comeback and eliminated Nadal with the score of 5-7, 7-6(6), 6-3. The Spaniard can still be satisfied with the level expressed upon his return after almost a year and with the two victories obtained against Dominic Thiem and Jason Kubler.
