1998 - 4 Futures played, 1 quarter-final 

1999 - 4 Futures titles and a Challenger quarter-final in Nuembrecht, finishing the season in the Top 300

2000 - Mikhail won Samarkand Challenger and played in 8 ATP tournaments, reaching the quarter-final in Moscow

2001 - Third round at the Australian Open and the semi-final in Copenhagen. The 4th round at Wimbledon and the third round at the US Open, finishing the season in the Top 60

2002 - 31 ATP wins and the first ATP title in Stuttgart, beating Guillermo Canas in 5 sets. The semi-final run in Casablanca and Munich with another 4th round appearance at Wimbledon. He lost in the final of St. Petersburg and beat Paul-Henri Mathieu in the deciding 5ht rubber of the Davis Cup final to clinch the title for Russia

2003 - Semi-final in Doha, Halle, and Lyon, and he reached the 4th round in Melbourne, losing to Andy Roddick. Another season in the Top 50

2004 - 42 ATP wins for the place in the Top 20 at the end of the season. He lost in the semi-final of Dubai and in the quarters in Hamburg and at Athens Olympics. Safin beat him in the final of Beijing and Davydenko in the semis in Moscow. He won the title in St. Petersburg and lost in the quarter-final in Paris

2005 - 7 quarter-finals, including the one in Cincinnati, and he reached the 4th round at Wimbledon and the third round of the US Open

2006 - Semi-final in Dubai and Kitzbuhel but his moment of glory came at the US Open where he reached the semi-final, beating Rafael Nadal and losing to Andy Roddick

2007 - Mikhail won 50 matches and he cracked the Top 10 for the first time, also winning the title in Rotterdam. He lost to Federer in the final of Dubai and in Munich to Kohlschreiber. Played in the 4th round at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon, losing to Federer and Nadal, and in the semi-final of St. Petersburg where Andy Murray prevented him to reach the final

2008 - Won the title in Chennai and reached the quarter-final at the Australian Open. Another 4th round at Wimbledon, losing to Nadal, and he finished the season just outside the Top 30

2009 - 42 ATP wins with a title in Moscow. He also played in the final in Munich, Tokyo, and Valencia, losing to Berdych, Tsonga, and Murray

2010 - Lost in the final of Rotterdam and Dubai early in the season and he beat Cilic to lift the crown in Munich. Quarter-final run at the Roland Garros and he advanced to the last 4 in New York, losing to Rafael Nadal. He won the title in Kuala Lumpur and dropped the final of St. Petersburg, closing the season in the Top 10 for the first time

2011 - 4 ATP semi-finals in Marseille, Hamburg, Gstaad, and St. Petersburg, with the 4th round at Wimbledon, losing to Roger Federer

2012 - Won the title in Zagreb and played well on grass, with a semi-final in Halle and the quarter-final at Wimbledon, losing to Federer in both matches. Closed the season with a quarter-final in Stockholm and Basel, enough for the 25th place in the rankings

2013 - 39 ATP wins and titles in Gstaad and Valencia. Quarter-final at the US Open and the 4th round at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, also dropping the final in Halle to Federer

2014 - 1 semi-final and 4 quarter-finals, including Shanghai Masters

2015 - Challenger title in Eckental and just 9 ATP wins, dropping out from the Top 100

2016 - Opened the season with 3 Challenger titles in a row and he reached 3 ATP quarter-finals, in Stuttgart, Gstaad, and St. Petersburg

2017 - ATP quarter-final in Chennai and he improved his ranking with 2 Challenger titles in Ningbo and Ho Chi Minh City
