Barbara Schett

Barbara Schett was born in Innsbruck on March 10, 1976.

She won three WTA singles titles, her best position was her 7th, achieved on September 13, 1999, the year in which she also qualified for the quarterfinals of the US Open.

She represented Austria at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, also reaching the quarter-finals there. After the 2005 Australian Open she retired from tennis, devoting herself to television. You started collaborating with the Eurosport channel, commenting tennis matches, but also conducting studio programs.

In 1999, she started the season with two semi-finals, in Auckland and Sydney where she eliminated the two top-10 players Conchita Martínez and Arantxa Sánchez Vicario.

She played in the final of the Kremlin Cup, defeated by Nathalie Tauziat, while she reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the first time, at the US Open, where she was defeated by Venus Williams. Thanks also to her result in New York she obtained the seventh position in the world, her best result in singles.

Barbara Schett is married to Australian former tennis player Joshua Eagle: the two, who also played mixed doubles together, have a son named Noah. She still resides in her hometown of Innsbruck.
