Dodig reached the third round at the 2013 Australian Open, where he defeated successively Wu Di and Jarkko Nieminen, before losing to world No. 10 Richard Gasquet. At the French Open 2013 Dodig was defeated in the first round after a very long match which ended in the fifth set 12-10 in favor of Guido Pella.

He also reached the round of 16 at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships, winning only one match, that of the second round against Denis Kudla, taking advantage of the withdrawals of Philipp Kohlschreiber and Igor Sijsling in the first and third rounds respectively, before surrendering to number four in the ranking David Ferrer. He also reaches for the first time in his career the final of a doubles slam paired with Marcelo Melo, losing to the Bryan twins. In October, again with Melo, he won his first ATP title at the Masters 1000 in Shanghai, defeating Marrero/Verdasco in the super tiebreak in the final.
