Carla Suarez Navarro

Carla Suarez Navarro has played in eleven WTA finals, winning two titles, including the prestigious Qatar Total Open 2016. Among others, however, she boasts a final played in the even more prestigious Miami Open in 2015.

As for the Grand Slam tournaments, she has reached the quarterfinals seven times: three times at the Australian Open in 2009, 2016 and 2018; two at the French Open in 2008 and 2014 and two at the US Open in 2013 and 2018. At Wimbledon she never got past the round of 16.

She also boasts excellent results in doubles, where she reached eight finals with compatriot Garbine Muguruza and one with Sara Errani. In this specialty she boasts three titles, all in the Premier category, won together with Muguruza.

The most prestigious final played is the one at the WTA Finals in 2015, together with the two lost at home in the Mutua Madrid Open in 2014 and 2015. In terms of rankings, she pushed herself up to sixth position in singles on February 29, 2016 In doubles, however, she stopped at the eleventh position of the ranking on 27 April 2015.

She was one of the very few one-handed backhand performers on the women's circuit. After battling and defeating Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2020, she played her final season on the circuit the following year.

In 2023, she and her partner will become parents of twins.
