
Filippo Volandri is an Italian tennis coach, television commentator and former tennis player.
His best ATP singles ranking was 25th in July 2007, and he was number one in Italy for 218 weeks, 157 of which consecutive. A clay court specialist, he boasts two titles in the major circuit out of nine finals played, and is one of six Italian tennis players to have defeated an opponent ranked first in the computerized ATP rankings.
In January 2021, he became the non-playing captain of Italy's Davis Cup team.
After retiring from competitive sport he enters the cadres of the Italian Tennis Federation as a coach. In 2018 he was entrusted with the role of National Technical Director, with the task of following and organizing the training of new talents in Italian tennis. In January 2021, he took over from Corrado Barazzutti as non-playing captain of the Italian Davis Cup team.
