Alexis Ohanian was born in New York on April 24, 1983. He is an American entrepreneur, co-founder of the social news site Reddit, husband of tennis legend Serena Williams.

Ohanian was born in Brooklyn to a German mother and an Armenian father. His paternal ancestors came to the United States as refugees after the Armenian Genocide. Ohanian attended Howard High School in Ellicott City, Maryland, graduating in 2001. In 2005, he received a BA in Commerce and History from the University of Virginia.

On December 29, 2016, Ohanian became engaged to tennis player Serena Williams, whom he married on November 16, 2017 in New Orleans. The couple's first child, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., was born on September 1, 2017 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The birth was difficult, to the point of endangering his wife's life. In the immediate aftermath, Ohanian therefore had to personally follow and treat both, becoming an open supporter of paternity leave ever since.
